Driftwood is a cottage, in the Aberdeenshire village of Pennan, made famous by the feature film ‘Local Hero’, with uninterrupted views, from all rooms, of the sea and Pennan Bay.
There is a kitchen with Rayburn solid fuel oven, lounge with wood burning stove, double bedroom, twin-bedded room with en-suite spa bathroom, shower room and an attic with 3 children’s beds and a toilet.
From November 2014 to April 2016 the cottage was fully refurbished internally with a new kitchen, new shower room and redecorated it from top to bottom. Such was the success of the refurb Driftwood was featured in ’25 Beautiful Homes’ in September 2016 and ‘The Sunday Post’ in January 2017. The outside of the cottage was given a facelift in July 2017 with a fresh coat of paint.
Driftwood is all about R&R. The sea will soothe you to sleep as it drags the pebbles and boulders up and down the beach with soporific regularity. The pace of life slows down to a crawl and I’t’s lovely. No mobile signal in this town so you can have a partial digital detox. Only partial as in 2017 Pennan was connect to the digital world via glass-fibre super fast broadband.
We do not rent out the cottage as it is too nice to be left to strangers but our friends and family are welcome to stay. Just refer to the Availability Calendar and contact Doug to agree your dates.
